What Is ArteVida?

Who we are
We are former Peace Corps volunteers who see a great deal of artistic talent in need of a market. We have seen communities receive skills training, but what they need now is access to markets where they can sell their artistic creations. That’s why we launched ArteVida.

Who are the artisans?
Currently, we work with established community groups that we know personally and whose projects have a community benefit and focus. We are building an infrastructure to be able to work with individual artisans and bring more unique and interesting products to market that we have never seen here before.

Are we fair trade?
Of course we are! We personally visit with the groups we work with to verify that the artisans are paid a fair wage and work in safe and humane conditions.

What community project do our artisans do?
Here's one example: InVitro, Honduras, destines its proceeds from sales through ArteVida to go to their foundation for community development. One thing it funds is an art fair every year to promote local artists and businesses. The art fair helps fund the operating expenses fo the "Magic School”, an art school for disadvantaged youth.
